Falcon Eclips
I often wrote about birds in my stories, they would be messengers flying day and night to give news of an attack. Or would accompany a dragon or gryphon on a jurny and scout ahead sense they were smaller and less noticeable. However they have never been the main character though their roles are very important. Being that our school mascot is a falcon, it gave me a perfect opportunity to give a bird character a heroic role. The character on the tile is Rakkin, a large falcon that flew during an eclipse that shot rays of fire and burned the earth. Rakkin was flying so high that when the eclipse happened he blocked the suns rays from the valley and protected the inhabitants. One of which was his mate who was blind but could for some reason see during the eclipse. And now on every eclipse she is able to speak to the spirit world.
Took off the cardboard cut out and touched up where the paint seeped under it.
Bronzed
This is the daughter of Rakkin and his blind mate, who was pregnant during the eclips. Though he mother can see and speak with the spirit world during an eclips, her daughter can travel between worlds during eclipses and serton times in the luner and solar calinder or other astronomical events. As long as she comes back to the physical world before the event ends or she will be trapped int he spirit world until the next.
I put cardboard in the shirt to keep it flat and keep the paint from bleeding through. Deciding where to put the falcon was a little scary. It's not like canvas where you can practice with white wash and just paint over it. But i felt like having the wing extend over the sleeve and the falcon facing up would be good and that the trailing tie dye streaks would even it out.

Base coat and figuring how i want the feathers to be and the best way to get to that point. The face feathers are just streaks and the wings tail, and lower body feathers are going to have shadowing. Also changed the color of the foot to match the beak for a more cohesive look.

By working on the under feather to the ones that over lap it gives the feathers a 3D affect. Here i figured out the placement of each feather with a modified white wash techneak and finished the tail feathers.

Finished the feathers on the wing, and changed the body feathers from white to cream and added streaks. Also played around with the fallen feather till i found a pattern i liked. The fallen feathers are harder than the feathers on the falcon because they are not overlapped and cant rely of placement of another feather to make it look cohesive.
