Jumper
So this picture of me I used for positioning of the head. As you can see I changed the way I was facing in the drawing. This piece is based on my personal story. This is my last year in high school, and I will be leaving all of the known for the unknown by myself. (Besides Noah) And that kinda feels like I'm jumping off a cliff with the unknown black ocean waiting for me to falter and swallow me up.
This is kind of a play on Icarus, but instead of wax wings I was smart and made steampunk machiens to help me. The story is a pretty good reminder not to take to much on my plate while I'm in college. I don't want to try and fly to high and do to much and then be burned by the sun. And I don't want to get lazy and forget to try to fly and crash into the ocean.

This is my genera idea and I colored in it a bit to get a color scheme. I want it to be pretty stylized.
No that I have the basic sketch I have to figure out what kind of animatronics need to show on the wind. I really want it to be realistic. Or as close as possible. You can see I even thought about how a bird wing moves to give the wings the right motion if they were real.

Sketched the basic picture and then started on the arm details. I drew it in pencil before I went over in pen. You can see I got a lot more detailed with the real picture.

The wings and corset are done in pen and I'm trying to figure out how to make the lower body have a similar amount of detail to look more coherent. Cause just having a bunch of details on the wings and nothing else would look weird.
|
Figured out how to spread out the details and still make the picture look flowy. I'm pretty much finished with the ink besides the other leg flap. The rest of the picture is going to be in water color.

I took really watered down yellow to fill in the white of they sky and i really like how the streaks fade in and out. I also shaded the feathers on the wing and the leather as well as where the leather is on the body. The black tendrils represent the unknown certainties and possibility of failure.
I really like the dream like feel that this piece has. I feel like I carried that through all my work.
