So this is based on a Native American tail that says when a tree is hundreds of years old, and an animal has called it home for a long time too, that the animal becomes the heart of the tree. I saw the tree cut out in Michel's while looking for clock parts. I was immediately reminded of the tail and thought that the shape looked like an owl. I really like how it fits so well with the story. The base is wood like the tree and then feathers to give it design. The two elements together.
SPECIAL**** This piece is in a museum. I'll take a picture of it in the museum for those who cant go to see it.

This is the picture of an owl I used as my reference. Tell me the shape of the wood doesn't remind you of an owl. Go ahead tell me honestly it doesn't. You can't! Totally and owl.

So I was in Micelles looking for clock parts for my ceramics class when I saw this piece of wood and I was immediately struck with inspiration of turning it into an owl. The shape reminded me of a sitting owl looking over at something.
