Shade
The project was to make a mask, usually using cultures, however I wanted to make something creepy and the first thing that popped into my head was a nightmare that I had all the time as a kid. There would be the shadowy figure that was really tall with long legs, arms and a long torso, and long claws. It looked like a skeleton with dark mummified skin stretched over its frame. The worst wart was its face, it had no mouth or nose, they were covered with nasty stretched mummy skin, but you could still see in indentations were they were supposed to be. It didn't have any eyes either. They just looked like bottomless black wholes that absorbed all light.
I used a ceramic mask in a plastic bag and a slab to press the mask shape. Then hallowed out were the eyes would go. I drug my fingers across the face to make it look stretched. And then pressed around the eye sockets, cheek bones and chin the make it look more skeleton like and then streaked it again. I had to wait a day to take the clay off the mask to get the nose flat and crumbly. Sense people have noses and the creature I'm trying to make doesn't.
